5 Beautiful quotes for Christening invitations | Newborn & Baby Photographer | Colchester, Essex
Nov 06, 2018

I have just put together a Christening invitation (at this late hour!).  The finished invitation contains a classic baby portrait on front alongside some key details about the event.  It features this wonderful quote from Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie on the reverse next to some more of the finer details.  It's a shame that I can't share the invitation itself (I can't risk the internet rocking up looking for sandwiches!), but I can share this quote (image above is as designed on the invite):

"All the World is made of Faith, and Trust, and Pixie Dust"

J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan

I love words, and words with meaning alongside pictures are like nectar to me.  I really enjoy projects like this.  Designing with type and special quotes can really lift an invitation, be it a special birthday or Christening (or any kind really).  I especially like this quote as it is a break away from traditional biblical words but is still infused with meaning.

There are a wealth of beautiful words in children's books, here are my top five for christenings - well, four now as number one is taken!

TWO.

This - always this for tiny new beautiful babies - gorgeous words for birth announcements and sentimental christening invitations.

"Sometimes," said Pooh; "the smallest things take up the most room in your heart"

A. A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

THREE.

Here's another one from Peter Pan - yes it is one of my favourite stories.

"For to have faith, is to have wings"

J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan

FOUR.

This one is perfect for Christenings, C. S. Lewis is well known for imbibing his faith into The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

"“Once the feet are put right, all the rest of him will follow.”

C. S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

FIVE.

I love The Little Prince, such a beautiful little story.

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye"

Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince

Please share some of your favourite quotes for Christenings, especially if they're based in literature, I'd love to read them.
